In today’s society, it’s no wonder we are all so confused about many things. For the Christian though we often ask ourselves; “Is this what God would have me do?” “Should I go here or there or to this or that school or job?” “Should I marry him/her or not?”
I ask myself questions daily… Why do I play music here or there? Is this what God would have me to do?
As always, we turn to scripture to enlighten us and to open our eyes to what God has said. Allow the scriptures to speak to you as you search what it is you want to do. When I get confused, I know it is of the devil as God is not the author of confusion. (1 Corinthians 14:33) So, I turn to where I know it’s always 100% right!
Proverbs 16:1 – 4 is a scripture reference I’ve come to in the past. Read below and then click on the link to read the entire passage..
16 The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord.
2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits.
3 Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.
4 The Lord hath made all things for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
What is in your heart? We think that we are doing this for the Lord so it must be good, right? Well, look at vs 2 “All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits”.. In other words, you think you are doing this for the right reason, but have you asked yourself the hard questions as to why?
Verse 3 goes on to say, “Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established”.
I believe that to say “Mike, Ask your self the hard questions before you proceed!”
- Am I doing what I’m doing to please God 100%?
- Is there anything that I’m doing that does not put God first in this or that?
- Have I truly committed my works to the Lord?
- Truly committed starts with examination
- Truly committed continues with sincere prayer
- Truly committed listens for the clear, uncluttered peace from God
If you seek His will, His desire for your life, His glorification alone, THEN you know you are on a right path.
These are just things to think about, read the entire proverb and pray about it and see where God sends you!
